SAVE CHILDREN PROJECT

PENTA KOTTA, PURI

ORISSA, INDIA

Since 2002 we started, with the help of the Sisters Adorers of Puri, a new project in the fishermen’s village of Penta Kotta near Puri in Orissa. We want to help the young girls abused by the horrors of international prostitution. It is tragic that in this holy town, which for thousands of years has been a major pilgrimage destination as shrine to the temple of Lord Jagannath, Westerners come as tourists to visit the beautiful beaches and try to satisfy their own evil desires.

To help the poor conditions of the fishermen’s families, the Sisters Adorers began to give shelter to a few young girls, some of whom were sold by their own parents into prostitution. So, thanks to several donations, we were able to start construction on a building to give a new home to 20 girls so far. Here they receive schooling, learn tailoring and other simple jobs that can provide them with some income, giving them a chance for a better future.

If you would like to help these girls and give more girls the opportunity to join the community, please contact us.
